Before your waxing appointment

Waxing is one of the most popular professional methods of hair removal for male and female clients. Unlike shaving, hair is removed from the root for longer lasting results.

What do I need to wear for my treatment?

Loose clothing is recommended for the most comfortable experience. For leg treatments you may wish to bring shorts to get changed into. Disposable underwear can be provided for intimate treatments.

How long does my hair have to be for a bikini wax?

About 1cm long is ideal but even upwards of 1/2cm should be fine. This is usually at least 3 weeks but your hair grows differently in different areas of the body. The wax needs to grip onto the hair so that it can be removed from the root — a good length encourages a smooth final result.

Is my hair too long for a bikini wax?

If your hair is a bit longer than the ideal length you can trim it slightly at home yourself or let the therapist know who will either (1) trim it for you or (2) give you a few moments alone to do it yourself in the treatment room. Just be careful not to trim the hair too much!

I have sensitive skin, is waxing suitable for me?

Sienna X waxing products allow the therapist to create a bespoke treatment tailored to meet your individual needs.

Does a bikini wax hurt?

Yes but the discomfort is mild and quickly subsides.

Can I choose a design for my bikini wax?

This is completely up to you. Most waxing therapists will be happy to oblige if you let them know what you’d like to achieve. But be realistic about your design. Love hearts are common around Valentine’s Day.

What should I do to prep for my bikini wax?

Try to moisturise and exfoliate your skin in the days running up to your treatment. Exfoliating regularly discourages ingrown hairs and ensures that you get a smooth result. Avoid using tanning products, UV or electrical treatments, saunas or steam rooms for 24 hours prior to your treatment. Avoid using lotions or cosmetics on the area on the day of your appointment.

What will happen before, during and after my treatment?

On arrival your therapist will ask you to complete a consultation record.

Dependant on the treatment area, your therapist will give instructions on any clothing to be removed or the best position to adopt for a comfortable experience.

Preparation products will be applied to the treatment area to cleanse and soothe the skin.

Your therapist will then begin to apply wax. During the treatment you may be required to change position.

Post treatment products will be massaged into the skin leaving the area cool, smooth and hydrated.

How long does a bikini wax treatment take?

Professional bikini line waxers can get the job done within 15 minutes depending on the type of bikini wax you’ve booked in for. A simple bikini line touch up will be quicker than say a Brazilian or Hollywood wax where most or all of the hair is removed.

How long will it take for my hair to grow back?

It can take up to four weeks for full re-growth, which means you can bin the razor and removal creams for a month! There may be some mild re-growth after 2-3 weeks but the hair will feel finer than shaved hair. On average it can take up to four initial treatments for hair growth to become finer and results will become more long lasting.

Can I shave in between bikini wax treatments?

Yes you can but the best option is to book in for regular waxing appointments every 3-4 weeks so that the area is always silky smooth rather than stubbly.
